Venus Textiles promotes von Walstrom

Venus Textiles recently promoted Vivie von Walstrom to a newly created position, director of design and marketing.
She reports to Raj Patel, president.
Von Walstrom was most recently executive vice president, corporate director of design.
"We feel that with the quotas coming off, more buyers in the U.S. will want to buy direct, and we'll be selling our goods direct from our plants," said von Walstrom. "We'll be completely vertical in every respect."
In related news, the company is currently building a new bath towel manufacturing plant in southern India in the city of Coimbatore. It will include a dye plant, a cutting-and-sewing operation and warehousing facilities.
The new bath towel plant is 175,000 square feet.
"I don't know what the shipping capacity will end up being. We are still buying machinery," von Walstrom said. "The plant in Solapur is shipping us 4-by-40-feet containers of towels a month, which is its total capacity. That is why Raj Patel decided to build a bigger, completely modern plant from the ground up in Coimbatore."
