Ekornes issues statement on environmental goals
Aims to tackle five specific business areas

SOMERSET, N.J. - Upscale sofa, recliner and mattress maker Ekornes has issued a statement for consumers on its environmental goals.The statement focuses on five areas: recycling; use of eco-friendly materials; water-based materials and manufacturing processes; air quality; and energy efficiency.
The company's parent company is based in Sykkylven, Norway.

"Over a long period, the company has implemented measures at its manufacturing plants to improve the internal and external environment, while also selecting more environment-friendly raw materials," the statement reads.

Some of the current green strategies that the company employs include recycling waste from foam plastic production into new products or selling the material for carpet underlays and not using rainforest timber or endangered wood species.
"We are attacking all five areas of sustainable manufacturing processes and will continue to improve our environmental responsibility standards," said Peter Bjerregaard, president. "Our ongoing goal is for our products to have as little impact as possible on the environment."
Ekornes' products include Stressless recliners, sofas, loveseats and accessories; Ekornes Collection sofas; and Svane mattresses.
