Washington — The U.S. textiles industry lost 8,900 jobs in July — the third highest monthly total in history — a figure that does not include the loss of 6,500 Pillowtex jobs and 9,300 apparel jobs, according to the American Textile Manufacturers Institute.
Over the past four months, 26,000 textiles jobs and 21,000 apparel jobs have disappeared as imports from Asia surged, according to the ATMI.
