McCollum launching occasional company
Heath E. Combs -- Furniture Today, August 25, 2008
HAYWARD, Calif. — Industry veteran Mike McCollum will launch an occasional furniture source named William Chandler Home at next April's High Point Market.
The company has about 25 groups in development with retail price points ranging from medium to high end, a press release said. It has a warehouse in San Francisco with additional distribution facilities in Los Angeles and High Point.
Initial offerings will include 250 to 300 SKUs of home office, accent furniture, bookcases, storage solutions and eclectic occasional tables and accent chairs.
With a focused product line, the company will have the flexibility to adapt to market changes, McCollum said.
“With the ever-changing dynamics of the furniture business today, being small gives a value advantage to the customer. It allows us the flexibility to adapt and change as quickly as buying trends change, which will save money that can be passed on to the customer,” McCollum said.
McCollum most recently was at Progressive Furniture as senior vice president of merchandising for the Woodlands import division. Earlier, he was senior vice president of merchandising for case goods at Broyhill, and vice president and general manager of the Signature Division of SLF.
