Himel passes baton to Farah at Vitafoam

NORTH YORK, Ontario — Mel Himel, longtime president of Vitafoam Canada, has announced that he will retire after a 40-year career with the foam supplier. He will be succeeded by Peter Farah, who was named chief operating officer this month.
“It has been my joy and pleasure to see our business grow, from a small local foam fabricator, to a large business, which spans the country,” Himel said in a letter to the industry. “We should all be proud of what we have accomplished as a team, in building a strong and enduring company.”
Himel will remain president during an unspecified transition period. He expressed his confidence in Farah’s ability to lead the company.
“Peter is an experienced general manger from the automotive foam industry; having over 20 years with Woodbridge Foam,” said Himel.
Farah most recently was group vice president of the slab foam business unit for Woodbridge Foam, leading that business to double-digit growth in profitability.
“I am confident that the business is in good hands,” Himel said. “Peter will build upon the success we have enjoyed over the years, with support of the great Vitafoam team.”
