ROSEVILLE, Calif. — The Western Home Furnishings Assn. will host a webinar for furniture retailers with California Air Resources Board Sept. 25 to explain the new composite wood formaldehyde regulation.The webinar, set for 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time, will describe elements of the regulation, retailer compliance requirements and enforcement details.

The formaldehyde regulation goes into effect in stages beginning Jan. 1 on items for sale in California. It addresses three types of commonly used composite wood products - hardwood plywood, particleboard and medium-density fiberboard.
Manufacturers of composite panel must meet the first deadlines starting Jan. 1. The rules begin taking effect for furniture retailers starting July 1, 2010.
