Group pitching Susan Lucci furniture line

Actress already has other licensed products

Joan Gunin -- Furniture Today, September 10, 2008

NEW YORK — Soap opera star Susan Lucci has retained licensing agent Concept Marketing Group to help create a home furnishings collection inspired by her.

Lucci, who won a long-sought Emmy best actress award in 1999 for her portrayal of Erica Kane on ABC's "All My Children," will debut on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" on Sept. 22.

She already has licensed lines of fragrances, apparel, lingerie, hair care and skin care products.

"We believe that a comprehensive collection of home products carrying the Susan Lucci brand can be of great importance in competing for the attention of the ultimate consumer," said Kerry Glasser, president of Concept Marketing Group.

"Susan's accomplishments and contributions to television, the performing arts and charitable activities have made her a positive role model for women and men - although her demos are more heavily female-skewed," Glasser said. "We believe her dedicated consumer base will establish a solid foundation necessary to extend the brand into home furnishings."

With design a key component to the success of any collection, Lucci described her style: "I have an eclectic decorating style that blends European influences (I have an Italian heritage) with updated and comfortable styling. I enjoy mixing my home environment with classical style, simple sophistication and comfort. A home has to encompass more than all of its furnishings, it must radiate warmth and a vivid reflection of who you are."

She has a home in Manhattan with Art Deco-inspired furnishings and muted tones, crystal and vintage silver; a home in the Hamptons with bleached wood, gingham and hooked rugs; and a family home on Long Island with a blend of antiques, hand-painted armoires, needlepoint and chintz florals.

She is also a philanthropist involved in many health-related causes.
