He succeeds Arthur Thompson, who will retire in November.
"Gary has seen Laneventure develop into the resource for premium outdoor and indoor furnishings that it is today," said Dan Bradley, president of Furniture Brands' Designer Brands Group.
McCray most recently was vice president of supply chain management and also has been involved in engineering, product development, merchandising and marketing at Laneventure. He is a former president and chairman of the Summer and Casual Furniture Manufacturers Assn., recently renamed the International Casual Furniture Assn.
"I am excited that Gary has accepted this opportunity to build upon the successes created by Art and the team at Laneventure," Bradley said. "I am confident he will continue to grow the brand across all channels of distribution to meet the needs of today's consumers."
McCray said of his predecessor, "During his 20 years of leadership here, Art transformed Laneventure from three distinct companies (wicker, rattan, accent and upholstery) into an industry-leading position with a wide range of products in the outdoor and indoor segments."
