Gordon leaves Kane's

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, September 14, 2008

Frank Gordon, merchandise manager Kane's Furniture here since June 2007, has left the Top 100 company.

Gordon, an industry veteran who spent most of his career at Michigan retailer Art Van, said the change was Kane's decision. He said he will use the move as “an opportunity to take the experience and knowledge I have gained over the last 15 months” to help him “find a good position in merchandising, product management or development or a related field.”

Kane's CEO Irwin Novack said the company doesn't plan to name a new merchandise manager. He said Gordon's primary responsibility was upholstery buyer and noted that the company recently hired Tara Davis East in that position.

East had been at Virginia Beach, Va.-based Haynes Furniture, where she worked since 1992 and had been upholstery buyer since 1996.

Gordon said he also had done case goods buying for Kane's for several months. Kane's has hired Ray Humphrey, formerly upholstery buyer at Leath, for that post.
