KIH by Martin opens N.C. warehouse

Will give East Coast better service, freight rates

Larry Thomas -- Furniture Today, September 22, 2008

SAN DIEGO — Home office and entertainment furniture resource Kathy Ireland Home by Martin is opening a distribution center in Lexington, N.C. - the company's first such facility in the eastern United States.

The company said the new facility will provide reduced freight rates, shorter lead times and lower minimum orders for East Coast retailers.

"Establishing an East Coast distribution center is a commitment to grow our business in the region and support the growth of our East Coast customers," said Karl Eulberg, vice president of sales and marketing.

The 80,000-square-foot warehouse will be stocked by November and will include popular furniture collections such as Tribeca Loft Black, Mount View, Fontaine, and Bradley. In addition, seating collections such as Market Street, Commonwealth Avenue and Christopher Street will be available.

The facility will be managed by a third-party logistics provider who also will handle freight to most East Coast destinations.
