January 9, 2014-- Furniture Today,
Livingston, N.J. - William A. Sussman, a manufacturer's representative in the furniture industry for more than 60 years, died on Dec. 13. He was 84.
Sussman, described in an obituary in the Newark, N.J., Star-Ledger as outgoing and optimistic, was born in Newark and liked to play tennis. He was still working as a rep until his death for such lines as Rex Bedding, Home Source Inds. and Impacto, according to Alan Granetz, executive director of the Greater Metropolitan Home Furnishings Assn.
Granetz said Sussman was "a good friend." He said many association members described Sussman as both a great gentleman and representative and reacted to his death with sadness.
"In all the years that I have been posting death notices to my membership, I have never received so many (such) replies," Granetz said via email.
Sussman is survived by his wife, two children and four grandchildren. His family requests that memorial contributions for lung cancer research be sent to the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy, 96 Cummings Point Road, Stamford, Conn. 06902.
