Oriental Rug Importers Assn. elects 2014 officers

Reza Momeni selected as president

NEW YORK — The Oriental Rug Importers Assn. elected its 2014 officers at Ravagh Restaurant in New York on Dec. 18.

Reza Momeni, president of Momeni, was elected president after previously serving as vice president of the ORIA.

"I am pleased and honored to have been elected president," Momeni said. "With the assistance of the ORIA membership and participation from the industry at large, I am certain we will accomplish much in the coming year as the economy continues its recovery."

Also elected were Kami Navid of Jaunty, vice president; Behrooz Hakimian of Woven Concepts, treasurer; and Ramin Kalaty of Kalaty, secretary.

Outgoing ORIA president Jeff DeSantis was awarded the ORIA Presidents Plaque in recognition of contributions he made during his three-year term.

"It has been a privilege to lead this venerable organization," DeSantis said. "I know that I am turning over reins to an excellent group of leaders and have confidence that Reza Momeni and the other elected ORIA officers and executive board members will continue to strengthen and expand the Association's important role in the home furnishings industry."

The new officers will assume their new positions on Jan. 1.
