Retailer Howard Miskelly to receive Bronze Star

Served in military during World War II

JACKSON, Miss. — Howard Miskelly, the founder of Jackson, Miss.-based Top 100 Retailer Miskelly Furniture, is being awarded the Bronze Star, according to the Clarion-Ledger.

The paper reported that Miskelly is a World War II veteran who fought in Belgium, Holland and Germany. Gov. Phil Bryant and U.S. Rep. Gregg Harper will present Miskelly with the honor on Friday at the state capitol in Jackson.

In 1978, he and his family started Miskelly Furniture, which is ranked at No. 92 on Furniture/Today's list of Top 100 U.S. Furniture Stores with estimated 2012 sales of $48.1 million.
