Retired industry veteran Irving Schoenfeld dies at 96

Worked for Sheffield Chair, Bristol House

LA JOLLA, Calif. — Irving Schoenfeld, 96, former director of sales and marketing for Sheffield Chair Co. and Bristol House, died on Dec. 23.

His 50-plus year career in the furniture industry began as a buyer for Ludwig Baumann in Manhattan. He eventually moved to California, where he became a manufacturer's representative covering the Pacific Coast from San Diego to Seattle.

In the 1970s he became the sales and marketing director for Sheffield Chair, one of the largest upholstery manufacturers on the West Coast.

Schoenfeld was known as a gentleman with a quick wit, excellent sense of humor and a love for his profession and customers.

He is survived by his daughter, son and three grandchildren.
