January 24, 2014,
LOS ANGELES — Morgan Fabrics has promoted Steven Gittelson to president of the company, CEO Michael Gittelson announced.
Steven Gittelson had been vice president of sales and marketing and has been with the family-owned company since 1993. Before becoming vice president, he worked as an account manager in various territories.
The company said the move is part of its restructuring plan for strengthening the firm's global operations and newly implemented business strategies.
As president, Steven Gittelson will lead Morgan and its Michael Jon Designs division, which provides decorative and designer fabrics to the interior design, commercial, healthcare and hospitality industries.
"Steve's extensive product knowledge and hands-on approach to creative merchandising have resulted in strongly impacting sales and new development," Michael Gittelson said in a statement. "I am confident that under his leadership, our company will develop to a level of unprecedented growth."
"Our search for a president resulted in having to look no further than our own backyard," company founder and chairman emeritus Arnie Gittelson added. "We are a family-owned business and Steven Gittelson is a family member who has earned this title. His 21 years of experience dealing with our products, our customers, our sales associates and administrators have thoroughly prepared him for this promotion."
"I feel very fortunate to be surrounded by such an incredible group of people," said Steven Gittelson. "With the support of our CEO Michael Gittelson, Chief Financial Officer Sam Yung, a very talented design team led by Paulina Muzekari, and the incredible sales team we have put together, I have no doubt that we will continue to expand on our platform of success. I am extremely honored that the Morgan Fabrics board has entrusted me to run the company which they have spent the last 58 years building."
Replacing Steven Gittelson as vice president of sales and marketing is Suzanne Theodore, formerly vice president of operations. The company said she has been instrumental in implementing systems and procedures to enhance productivity and internal communications.
Morgan, an upholstery fabric converter, is based in Los Angeles and has offices in Hickory, N.C., and a newly acquired 300,000-square-foot facility in Verona, Miss. Its China office, Morgan Shanghai, provides regional customer sales and support for the Asian market.
