MicroD adds online mattress shopping technology

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Online home furnishings merchandising and ecommerce technology provider MicroD has released what it describes as a consumer-focused mattress shopping solution for retailers.
Provided as an add-on to current and new websites, the new Web pages and filtering tools deliver content provided by the bedding brands to present the features and benefits of available mattresses, pillows and other bedding accessories.
By leveraging these new capabilities on their sites, retailers empower consumers to learn about, shop for, and select the bedding they want, according to MicroD.
"Consumers are clearly more likely to purchase when equipped with a thorough understanding of product features and benefits," said Ronald Gordon, MicroD senior vice president of technology. "The new MicroD mattress solution delivers the in-depth information buyers need to make an informed decision in a visually compelling and simple-to-navigate website solution. Dozens of our clients are already using it to enlighten and engage their online visitors."
Among the retailers using the MicroD Mattress Solution are Furniture Mall of Kansas in Topeka, Kan., Talsma Furniture in Hudsonville, Mich., and Woodstock Furniture Outlet in Acworth, Ga.
The online solution features a Mattress Selector Tool that makes it straightforward for shoppers to filter by brand, size, comfort level and availability to identify their most appropriate mattresses, officials said. MicroD configures each deployment to feature only the brands that each retail client carries.
MicroD said the technology was developed in cooperation with a number of mattress manufacturers that also furnish and maintain brand-specific descriptions, specifications, images, videos, and other content for online presentation.
Because these brands fund their specific Web pages, there is no direct charge to qualified website clients for this feature, the company said. Retailers may also include private label mattress brands at a cost based on requirements.
