Veteran Standard Furniture rep John D. Peters Jr. dies at 62

Worked with company more than 20 years

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — John D. Peters Jr., formerly of Russellville, Ark., and a veteran sales representative for Standard Furniture Mfg., died Jan. 6 at his home here. He was 62.

Peters was an independent rep for Standard for more than 20 years, until a few months ago, and had a great love of the furniture industry, colleagues said. He valued his customers as friends and always looked forward to calling on them.

His large extended family has many members engaged in the furniture industry.

"Johnny was one of the most memorable people to ever represent Standard Furniture. We will all miss him," said Tim Ussery, vice president of sales.

Peters was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannie Hodgson Peters. He is survived by two sons, a daughter, two brothers and seven grandchildren.

The family has asked that any memorial gifts be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 400 W. Main St., Russellville, Ark. 72801.
