Miller now consulting at Gabberts
Clint Engel -- Furniture Today, September 28, 2008
MINNEAPOLIS — Rebecca Miller, former president of Gabberts Furniture and Design Studio, is now consulting for the retailer, which was acquired by last month HOM Furniture.
Miller — brought in as part of a new management team last year — has moved to a consulting position during the ownership transition, a HOM spokesman said.
When it acquired Gabberts, HOM said that Chairman and CEO Jim Gabbert was leaving the company. HOM President and CEO Rod Johansen said in an e-mail that the company will not have a president for the Gabberts brand.
“We will be evaluating our needs over the next few months to determine our future management structure for Gabberts,” he said.
Coon Rapids, Minn.-based HOM acquired the upscale Gabberts in late August for an undisclosed amount. HOM projected that combined sales of the two operations this year will top $200 million.
Gabberts has a 63,000-square-foot flagship store in Minneapolis and a smaller Gabberts Odds & Ends in Edina, Minn. There are 13 midpriced HOM Furniture stores in Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa and Wisconsin.
