AHFA to host Global Supply Chain Conference this month

GREENSBORO — The American Home Furnishings Alliance will hold its annual Global Supply Chain Conference here on Feb. 27.
Speakers will address global economic trends and shipping industry trends that will impact furniture supply chains in the years ahead. The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sheraton Greensboro at Four Seasons.
Key presenters include David Bennett, a 20-year logistics industry veteran who is now general manager-North America for Li & Fung Logistics; Henry Seaton, a partner in the Vienna, Va., transportation law firm of Seaton & Husk; Marc Schewel, CEO of retailer Schewels Furniture in Lynchburg, Va.; Joe Wade, president of Shelba D. Johnson Trucking; and Charles Edwards, executive director of the North Carolina Center for Global Logistics.
The day prior to the conference, the AHFA-affiliated Specialized Furniture Carriers Assn. will hold its annual meeting from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Topics on the agenda include driver recruitment and retention, driver technology and nationwide home delivery.
The guest speaker at that event is Mike Doyle, transportation director for online home furnishings retailer Wayfair.
Supply Chain Conference participants are invited to attend the Specialized Furniture Carriers meeting, as well as an opening reception for the conference that begins at 6 p.m. on Feb. 26.
