Longtime furniture retailer Danny Hamm dies at 71

Was active on boards of SHFA, NHFA
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Daniel (Danny) H. Hamm III, 71, died at Grand Strand Medical Center on Dec. 9.

Danny Hamm graduated from the University of South Carolina and went to work with his father, Dan Hamm, at Prosperity Furniture in Prosperity, S.C.

He was a longtime member of the board and executive committee of the Southern Home Furnishings Assn., where he served as president. He also served many years on the National Home Furnishings Assn. board and executive committee as the liaison for SHFA. He was recognized in 1995 with the Willis Award of Merit, an award his father also received in 1972.

Hamm is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter and two grandchildren.
