Napolitano now sole owner of Korson Furniture Design
December 20, 2013,
Roboz became majority owner of the furniture resource, which is also the Canadian distributor for home accessory and accent furniture specialist Stein World, in 2001 after buying the shares owned by the late Burt Korson, who founded the company with Napolitano in 1983.
"He (Roboz) will still be very involved with us a director of marketing, so at least for the next little while, he's not going anywhere," Napolitano said.
"We are launching a new upscale website," he said, adding the company is putting the final touches on a 50% expansion of its permanent showroom, to 12,000 square feet. "The next space is going to display our line really well."
In January, the company will add some 100 new furniture items to its custom catalog, including six new dining chairs.
Napolitano said he plans to keep Korson focused on the occasional categories - its traditional strength - including chairs, dining, tables, benches and other accent pieces. "These are the categories that the large manufacturers often aren't interested in dealing with," he said, "but they are very important to the retailer."
Roboz said he's proud of his accomplishments at Korson, but now wants to focus on other things.
"I want to look after me, my health, my family," he told Furniture/Today. "I want to travel with my wife and I want to play golf with my friends." And passing the business to his children wasn't an option. "My wife told me that they don't want to work that hard."
