High Point's Center Point complex sold

Kansas investors acquire stake in showrooms

HIGH POINT — The Center Point furniture showroom complex in High Point has new owners from Kansas, complex officials announced to tenants in late December.

The four-building facility, also known as the Mississippi National Mart of High Point, includes Center Point, Center Point on Manning, Center Point on Centennial and Center Point on Russell.

The facility was sold Dec 27 to TGFWHP LLC, which stands for Three Guys from Wichita High Point. Among the principal Wichita, Kan., investors is Herbert L. Krumsick, managing member.

The Davis Estate, which has owned the complex since 1996, also continues to have an ownership stake.

Additional terms, including the purchase price and other details, were not immediately available.

In a letter to tenants, Krumsick said that Hunter Davis, the president of Mississippi National Mart of High Point, will continue to oversee the buildings and that the current staff will remain in place.

Neither Krumsick nor Davis was available for immediate comment.

The four buildings have 38 tenants and are roughly 85% leased, according to building management. Among its furniture tenants are Davis Direct, Holland House, Southern Motion, Liberty Furniture Inds. and Prime Designs.

I'm Tom Russell and have worked at Furniture/Today since August 2003. Since then, I have covered the international side of the business from a logistics and sourcing standpoint. Since then, I also have visited several furniture trade shows and manufacturing plants in Asia, which has helped me gain perspective about the industry in that part of the world. As I continue covering the import side of the business, I look forward to building on that knowledge base through conversations with industry officials and future overseas plant tours. From time to time, I will file news and other industry perspectives online and, as always, welcome your response to these Web postings.
