Blueport Commerce to unveil new omni-channel technologies

Technologies will bridge gap between in-store and in-home shopping

BOSTON - Blueport Commerce, which provides e-commerce platforms for furniture retailers, is unveiling a pair of omni-channel technologies that enable retailers to bridge the gap between in-store and in-home shopping.

Both new technologies, Store-Sync and Augmented Reality, employ mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers and "take furniture shopping to a whole new level," the company says.

"In a category like furniture, offering an easy, omni-channel shopping experience is a critical differentiator for retailers," said Carl Prindle, Blueport's president and CEO. "Mobile devices open up omni-channel retail opportunities like never before."

He said Store-Sync allows in-store shoppers to save pictures of their favorite pieces from multiple stores in a cloud-based shopping cart. Once a purchase decision has been made, the order can be placed from a smartphone or tablet.

The other new technology, Augmented Reality, allows shoppers to envision what a piece of furniture would look like in their home by looking through the camera in their smartphone or tablet. Users can even snap pictures of what their new furniture would look like and share them on social media, the company said.

"Retailers using Blueport's Store-Sync and Augmented Reality technologies take advantage of the mobile opportunity to take furniture shopping to a whole new level," Prindle said.
