FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A new Art Van Furniture store here reopened on Sunday following a fire on Friday night that closed it down for a day, said Diane Charles, director of corporate communications.

Charles characterized the blaze as "some kind of electrical fire" and said that it resulted in "mostly water damage" at the front of the store. A dollar amount of the damage won't be determined until later today, after insurance claims adjusters appraise the damage, she said.

The store, at 311 E. Coliseum Blvd., opened on Feb. 8, according to a report in The Journal Gazette.

Charles said that a grand opening party, originally set for Thursday evening, will be rescheduled for another date.
