Preregistrations up 40% for Malaysia International Furniture Fair

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — The 20th anniversary edition of the Malaysian International Furniture Fair could be one of the best attended in recent years thanks to a spike in preregistrations.
Show organizers said the March 4-8 show is experiencing a 40% increase in preregistrations just three weeks before the opening.
Last year's show attracted 6,000 overseas buyers from 140 countries and generated a record $854 million in orders. This was a 25% increase in overall exhibitor base, a factor that officials attributed to the partnership with the Muar Furniture Assn., an industry group based in Malaysia.
So far, the show has seen preregistrations from buyers in 130 countries, organizers said.
"We are seeing many first-time registrants and also quite a number of buyers who are planning to come back to MIFF after an absence of two to three years," said Datuk Dr. Tan Chin Huat, MIFF chairman. "The level of interest shows MIFF remains one of the most important markets in the global furniture chain."
"We have an excellent track record as a top-notch show organizer, creating real business for exhibitors and buyers," he added. "There is always a wide selection of quality and great value products from top and reliable Malaysian manufacturers, as well as international exhibitors."
The show also has launched its first app, which organizers say will help provide buyers and exhibitors up-to-date information about the event. Attendees can download the app at www.miff.com.my. They can also register and find other information about the show at the same site.
"The MIFF app will provide visitors with a richer show experience, said Karen Goi, MIFF general manager. "At the same time, it will allow our exhibitors to reach an international audience. It is not only informative, but also a good tool for networking. The interactive hall plan is an excellent guide for buyers to plan, meet suppliers and explore new products and contacts. We encourage all visitors to download the MIFF app today and start planning to maximize their time at the trade show."
