Next Generation Now members enjoy Lunch with Leaders
February 10, 2014-- Furniture Today,
ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Some 35 members representing the next generation of the home furnishings industry took the opportunity to spend time with business leaders during the Las Vegas Market.
The North American Home Furnishings Assn. held its first Lunch with Leaders event on Jan. 27 at market and invited Next Generation Now members to dine with industry leaders.
NAHFA is planning similar events at the April High Point Market.
Among the business leaders who took the time to meet with the NG Now members were Jeff Child of Salt Lake City-based retailer RC Willey, Lori Kelley of Palliser Furniture, Toby Konetzny of Coaster Fine Furniture, Kerry Lebensburger of Ashley Furniture Inds., Robert Maricich of International Market Centers and Chuck Reilly of AICO. While at the lunch, they discussed best practices and the importance of mentoring, among other topics.
"The group I met with had excellent questions and was very engaging," Kelley said. "They were there due to their own passion to be better by listening to someone who has traveled the path. I asked them to share one experience from their career that they were most proud of. Each of them had an example. That reaffirms that we all want to be a part of something bigger than ourselves and to be able to impact something successfully. It was a great conversation."
"Hands-down, the best learning experience to date in the furniture industry," added NG Now member Alex Macias of Del Sol Furniture.
