Colorado retailer's Super Bowl promo pays off for customers

TD on second half kickoff wins refunds

FORT MORGAN, Colo. — Houston's Gallery Furniture has been making national news with its refund of $7 million in furniture purchases, but the retailer isn't the only one giving away furniture thanks to promotions tied to the Super Bowl.

The Denver Post is reporting that Josh Becker, owner of Furniture Mart here, will refund close to $200,000 in purchases - the result of a "Kickoff Payoff" promotion that promised the money back should either team return a kickoff for a touchdown to open the game or the second half.

The Seattle Seahawks did just that in the second half during its 43-8 clobbering of the Denver Broncos.

The Post noted that Furniture Mart offered the same promotions before last year's Super Bowl too, and ended up giving away $122,000 in furniture when the Baltimore Ravens scored on the second-half kickoff.
