Weekends only names Hamm president

ST. Louis - Weekends Only Furniture here has named Lane Hamm its president as part of a succession plan at the family owned Top 100 company.
Hamm, who joined the five store, St. Louis-based retailer in 2007 and most recently was chief financial officer and director of stores, will assume leadership responsibilities of the Weekends Only executive team and "continue to focus on driving future growth," the company said in a release.
Tom Phillips, who is handing over the president title, continues as CEO and co-owner.
The move allows Phillips to step back from day-to-day operations and focus on looking for real estate for the next store, the company said.
"Though I will remain CEO of this family business for some time, this appointment is part of our succession plan and serves as a natural transition between me and the next generation," said Phillips, who cofounded the business in 1997.
Hamm said he is honored to be a part of the company.
"We have a tremendous leadership team and I look forward to working with the entire organization to advance our strategies and to continue to better fulfill our mission of ‘Saving Our Customer's Money,'" he said.
Hamm joined Weekends Only as CFO. Earlier, he was with Blockbuster for 10 years as a financial executive for the U.S. division and for Blockbuster Canada.
