Lazar Inds. co-founder Barry Lazar dies

He and partners reacquired company in 2010

LOS ANGELES — Barry J. Lazar, one of the founders of upholstery manufacturer Lazar Inds., died on Feb. 20, according to a Los Angeles Times obituary posted on

Together with Darryl Lazar and current company President Robert Luce, Barry Lazar reacquired Lazar Inds. in May 2010 from investment company River Associates.

After retirement, Lazar split his time between Los Angeles and the Santa Ynez Valley near Santa Barbara, where he and his late wife, Rochelle, began producing wine from their vineyard.

Lazar is survived by his son, Darryl Lazar, a daughter-in-law, three grandsons, one granddaughter and a sister.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
