DR. Carl f. Barron industry veteranBelmont, Mass. - Dr. Carl F. Barron, 97, who is credited with creating the furniture leasing industry, died Feb. 16. Barron founded a furniture leasing company in 1938, working alongside his late wife, Ruth. Barron was a longtime mentor who promoted his industry across the country. His business, Putnam Furniture Leasing Co., became the largest privately held furniture leasing company in the country and was sold in 2001 to Cort, a Berkshire Hathaway company.
     He is survived by four daughters, one son, nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
