Coelho to host Hall of Fame event

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, October 5, 2008

TV personality, author and home furnishings guru Susie Coelho will host the 20th anniversary American Furniture Hall of Fame induction banquet on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the High Point Market.

Coelho has more than 1,500 products on the market in bedding, bath, tabletop, seasonal home decor, luggage, and occasional furniture. In 25 years on television, she has hosted two shows on HGTV and has contributed to the “Today” show and “The View,” among others. She has just released her fourth book, “Style Your Dream Wedding.”

Nominees for the Hall of Fame this year are Alfred J. Audi, Wogan S. Badcock Jr., Howard G. Haas, Simon Kaplan, K. Bruce Lauritsen, Pasquale Natuzzi and Adrian M. Pearsall. Those who will be inducted will be announced at the banquet.

“Each of the nominees has made extraordinary contributions to the home furnishings industry. We are deeply grateful and delighted to highlight their accomplishments,” said Donald Belgrad, Hall of Fame president.

The banquet in the International Home Furnishings Center ballroom will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m. followed by the gala dinner at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $95 each, and the reservation deadline is Oct. 8. To make a reservation, mail a check with the names of all guests, payable to the American Furniture Hall of Fame Foundation, 202 Neal Place, High Point, N.C. 27262.

Last year's inductees — George B. Cartledge Sr., O. William Fenn Jr. and Felix E. Wright — will be presented with a bronze plaque in the Walk of Fame on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the Main Street entrance of Furniture Plaza. Established in 2001, the Walk of Fame honors Hall of Fame members with plaques inlaid permanently in the sidewalk.
