Two Royal Furniture stores to open in Birmingham, Ala., area

Will be company's first locations in Alabama

, February 25, 2014

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis-based retailer Royal Furniture says it will open two stores near Birmingham, Ala., on June 1.

A 35,000-square-foot store will occupy the old Books-A-Million store in Hoover Commons, 1615 Montgomery Highway, in Hoover. And a 24,000-square-foot store will operate in space once occupied by an Old Navy store at the Promenade at Tutwiler Farm in Trussville.

"We're very excited about this," said Richard Faber, the CEO and chairman of Royal Furniture. "It's a great opportunity for us."

He said the stores will enable Royal to establish a stronger footprint in the Southeast, where the company also has stores in Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi.

Faber said Royal carries furniture in a variety of categories. Key vendors include Southern Motion, Ashley Furniture, Stanley Furniture, Serta, Samuel Lawrence Furniture and Pulaski Furniture.
