Orian expands operations

Anderson, S.C. - Domestic rug manufacturer Orian Rugs plans a $13 million expansion to its facility here.
The expansion, announced by the South Carolina Department of Commerce, is expected to increase the size of Orian's current 550,000-square-foot facility and add 125 jobs to its workforce of 500.
"Orian is excited to announce this additional investment in our Anderson, S.C., manufacturing facility," Wim De Pape, president, said in a statement. "We appreciate the commitment that the local and state governments have made to support manufacturing and encourage us to continue to grow here in South Carolina."
Since opening in 1979, Orian has acquired Belgian manufacturers McThree Carpets and Bajong Carpets plus Sofiteks in Turkey. It is celebrating its 35th year in business this year and recently showed at the Las Vegas Market for the first time. The company also has showrooms in High Point, Atlanta, New York and Anderson.
"Orian was built from the ground up in South Carolina and continues to expand within our state," said South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.
