Furniture First links with GE Money

Will offer consumer financing program

Clint Engel -- Furniture Today, October 7, 2008

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Furniture First buying group has forged a relationship with GE Money, which is providing a new consumer financing program to its owner members.

The program replaces a former program from a supplier Furniture First wouldn't name.

GE Money's private label credit card program offer homeowners extended terms and special financing promotions with no annual fee, according to a press release. It also said the GE Money online finance management system "provides Furniture First customers an easy, secure way to quickly finance their furniture purchases," the company said. Online account management also is available to cardholders.

Furniture First said there is no cost to its members, other than a discount fee depending on the promotions offered.

Among the types of financing that will be available to consumers: three months to 18 months, no payments, no interest; up to 24 months with minimum payments, no interest; and one to five years financing with equal payments.

"Selecting GE Money's financing program was an easy decision for Furniture First members, said Bill Hartman, president of the buying group, which has 167 retailer members operating 346 stores and has $1.5 billion in buying power.
