Thomasville acquires six Philly-area stores

HIGH POINT — Thomasville Furniture Inds. has acquired six Thomasville Home Furnishings stores in Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey from the former licensee.The Furniture Brands International company acquired the greater Philadelphia-area stores from Encore Enterprises, led by Brian Good, for an undisclosed amount.
In September, Thomasville acquired Conover, N.C.-based Hendricks Furniture Group's 10 remaining Thomasville stores in the Carolinas, Florida and Georgia.
With the Encore deal, Thomasville now owns 42 of its 143 U.S. stores. In an e-mail, the company said that owning its own stores "affords us an opportunity to understand retail challenges and create stronger, tested retail programs to share out with our larger independent base."
