Karastan plants earn ISO 14001 certification

DALTON, Ga. — Rug supplier Karastan has announced that its manufacturing plant in Eden, N.C., has achieved ISO 14001 certification for its environmental practices.In addition, Karastan's spinning and worsted facilities in Greenville, N.C., also will receive the certification, the company said.
ISO 14001 is a management standard with requirements that focus on helping organizations protect the environment, prevent pollution and improve environmental performance.
"Conformity to ISO 14001 standards benefits the environment, our company and our customers," said Scott Mair, director of manufacturing for Karastan. "By making environmentalism a priority, we constantly strive to find better and more efficient ways to meet our eco-goals. These efforts are reflected in products with environmental value and selling power that sets our customers apart."
Mair added that all the New Zealand wool the company uses is from a source that meets that nation's stringent Environmental Choice specifications.
"This assessment reflects the highest standards of environmental excellence and greatly contributes towards the eco-friendliness of the final product," he said.
