Three execs start accent furniture importer

Marsh, MacIntosh, Kornegay left Stein World earlier

Heath Combs -- Furniture Today, October 20, 2008

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Former Stein World executives Mat Marsh, David MacIntosh and Gary Kornegay have started an accent furniture supplier named Coast to Coast Imports.

The company will source from China and other countries and expects initial deliveries to its Memphis warehouse in January or February. It plans to show for the first time at the Las Vegas Market in February.

The three executives left occasional source Stein World earlier this year.

MacIntosh is chief administrative officer at Coast to Coast. He had been vice president of marketing for Stein World, which he joined in 2005, and earlier was with importer Powell Co.

Marsh is vice president of sales and marketing for the new firm. He had been executive vice president of Stein World since 2005 and earlier was vice president of sales.

Kornegay, a former inventory management specialist for Stein World, is chief financial officer at Coast to Coast.

"We know that we are trying to break into a market at a time when the United States is facing serious economic and credit issues," said Kornegay. "We do not have unrealistic expectations. We feel our formula for success will help us gain a foothold so that we can enjoy an upswing in the market when that happens."

Added MacIntosh, "We believe that we can distinguish ourselves by emphasizing value, delivery and customer service."
