ABOUT THE SURVEY

By Dana French -- Furniture Today, October 19, 2008

This exclusive consumer analysis is based on the responses of 12,330 U.S. consumers. Furniture/Today, in partnership with HGTV, surveyed consumer households via on online survey linked to HGTV's Ideas newsletter in January 2008.

Because of the large sample size, the survey data can be projected within this population with a margin of error of plus or minus less than 1%.

This analysis focuses on the entertainment furniture-buying experience, including where the consumer would first go to shop for entertainment furniture, the reasons why consumers choose a retailer and several entertainment furniture-specific areas where consumers want more information, including technological and construction issues.

The sponsor of this presentation, Whalen, had no involvement in collecting, analyzing or reporting the data.

The research was analyzed by Furniture/Today's research department, led by Senior Research Specialist Dana French and Director of Market Research Kay Anderson.
