Toronto market adds seminars
Consumer, sales experts to speak
Michael Knell -- Furniture Today, October 30, 2008
TORONTO — For the first time in years, the Canadian Home Furnishings Market will have a conference component during its Jan. 10-13 run in the International Centre here.
The keynote speaker will be author and consultant Joanne Thomas Yaccato, who will discuss "The Gender Intelligent Retailer."
Yaccato maintains that although women are astute consumers who control 80% of the dollars spent on consumer goods, they feel neglected by companies and not taken seriously as consumers. Yaccato will help retailers better understand the female demographic, including how to create an environment where women will want to shop.
American sales trainer and consultant Gerry Morris will conduct a seminar entitled "A Better Way to Sell a Mattress." He promotes a customized approach to every customer, helping retailers make better sales, more often.
Both sessions will take place from 9 a.m. to 10:30 am. in the International Centre's new conference facility, with Yaccato speaking Jan. 10 and Morris on tap for Jan. 11. A continental breakfast will be served.
