GUANGZHOU, China - A date change to September may have helped fuel buyer traffic at the 22nd China International Furniture Fair here.Despite the slow global economy and challenges visitors had getting visas, show officials said traffic at the September show was almost on par with August 2007.
The Sept. 8-11 show, held at the Chinese Export Commodities Fair Pazhou Complex, attracted 36,247 visitors. Of these, 29,112 were from China and 7,135 were international.
The show has traditionally been held in August. Show officials changed the dates to September to attract more buyers from Europe, the United States and other international markets.
This year, the show covered 1.4 million square feet and featured 677 exhibitors, most of which were from China. Of the international buyers, about 20% were from Europe and 10% were from North America.
The 23rd CIFF will take place on March 18-21. For more information or to register, click here.
