COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Retail technology vendor Profitsystems has promoted Shelley Parlin to chief operating officer, a new position at the company.
She will direct the products and services that Profitsystems offers and will report to President and CEO Jeff Niskern.
Parlin joined the company in 2006 as director of professional services and was soon promoted to vice president of professional services. Earlier, she worked in retail for more than 20 years at family-owned Parlin Furniture in Battle Creek, Mich. She also has been a regular speaker at retail education events at furniture markets.
As COO, she will be responsible for sales and marketing, and her duties are expected to expand next year as part of a renewed growth effort, the company said. She also will focus on ways to streamline Profitsystems' processes and will look for ways to enhance the company's efficiencies and effectiveness.
"The only way to absolutely know that you have phenomenal products and customer service is to examine and evaluate what you do," said Parlin. "Nothing is sacred. Nothing is exempt. Just because things have always been done a certain way no longer ensures that it is the best way. Continued excellence is vital to the continued growth of the company."
