Magnussen opens Vietnam warehouse

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, November 2, 2008

Case goods importer Magnussen Home has opened a 400,000-square-foot warehouse in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The facility is twice the size of the company's existing Ho Chi Minh City-area warehouse, which opened in May 2007. Magnussen will keep that facility to ship its bestselling bedroom and dining room sets.

On Nov. 1, the new warehouse, believed to be among the largest of its kind in the region, began shipping bedroom, dining room and home entertainment pieces.

Don Essenberg, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, said the new facility is part of Magnussen's efforts to invest now to prepare for an economic turnaround sometime in late 2009.

“This time next year, we think we will see consumers returning to home furnishings,” he said, adding that the company continues to work on improving the service it offers from its three distribution centers.

Magnussen's third facility, which warehouses occasional and accent furniture, is in Riverside, Calif.
