Boyd Chumbley named EVP of Culp upholstery fabrics

Has been with company since 1984

HIGH POINT — Fabric and mattress ticking supplier Culp Inc. has promoted Boyd Chumbley to executive vice president of the company’s upholstery fabrics division.

In the newly created post, Chumbley will oversee sales, design, customer service, inventory management, global logistics and quality assurance for the division. In addition, he will oversee the company’s international operations in China and Poland.

Chumbley joined Culp in 1984 as controller for one of the company’s upholstery plants. Since then, he has held a variety of senior management posts in finance, operations and manufacturing. Most recently, he was senior vice president of operations for the upholstery fabrics unit.

In his new post, he reports to Frank Saxon, president and CEO.

“Boyd has played a pivotal role in (the) transformation of our upholstery business,” said Saxon. “With Boyd’s involvement, we have established a strong leadership position by remaining focused on what is important to our customers — creative designs, a wide range of innovative products and outstanding service. We are confident that Boyd will continue to be an important member of our leadership team as we execute our strategy in today’s global marketplace.”
