DALLAS — Dallas Market Center recently hired Jill Robinson as vice president of retail development.
In her new position, Robinson will oversee store buyer recruitment and retention programs and will report to Jane R. Robertson, executive vice president of marketing.
Robinson comes to Dallas Market Center after more than 20 years with major retailers Bag 'n' Baggage and JCPenney.
“As a retail professional with extensive merchant experience, Jill knows the mindset of the buyers we serve,” said Robertson. “She understands the challenges retailers face and offers tremendous expertise in all aspects of the business.”
Lane Home Furnishings
TUPELO, Miss. — Lane Home Furnishings has appointed Rodney Whitlock vice president of operations and Jack Johnson regional manager for the newly created South Central region.
Whitlock has held many positions with Lane since 1993, most recently as manager of its Saltillo, Miss., plant.
As vice president of operations, Whitlock will be responsible for manufacturing, product development, engineering, supply chain and procurement, transportation and dealer services.
Whitlock is replacing Jackie Hooker, who plans to retire at the end of the year.
Johnson has been in the furniture business for more than 20 years. Most recently, he was the general sales manager at Havertys Furniture in Atlanta. Before that, he worked with Sealy, Bassett and Macy's.

OAKLAND, Calif. — Kristen Wilsey has joined Sitcom, a supplier of lifestyle furniture and accessories, as national sales manager for the accessories division, a newly created post.
She has more than 20 years of sales and management expertise in home décor and housewares. She reports to David King, vice president of sales and marketing.
Profitability Consulting
HIGH POINT — Profitability Consulting Group has added Cynthia Logan to its staff of consultants.
She joins PCG with more than 10 years of retail home furnishings experience as a former store owner and field support consultant for Norwalk Furniture.
Logan's duties include helping retailers with improving profit margins, accounting practices and merchandising mix. She will also coach owners on strategic financial issues, including exit planning.

Ikea
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. — Ikea has appointed Richard Castanon store manager of its Charlotte, N.C., store, which is on track to open in spring 2009.
Castanon started at Ikea in 1991 as a furniture showroom manager. After a short stint away from the retailer, returned as the build-up project leader responsible for outfitting and launching six new Ikea stores.
“Richard's retail experience and expertise launching new stores has prepared him for managing this store in Charlotte,” said Ikea North America President Pernille Lopez.
