BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Bedroom and dining furniture source Gat Creek/Caperton Furnitureworks is donating 5% of its proceeds from blanket chests sales to Quilts for Kids.
Quilts for Kids transforms unwanted and discontinued fabric into quilts that comfort children in need. Caperton officials met Quilts for Kids Founder Linda Arye and asked how the company could help.

"We loved the program and the challenge. We don't have any fabrics. We're a solid wood company. By adding a hangtag to our blanket chests about Quilts for Kids, we hope to help raise awareness as well as help raise some cash for the organization," said Gat Caperton, president and CEO of Gat Creek.
"Hopefully, we'll even sell a few more blanket chests."
Quilts for Kids collects fabrics from sources including textile mills and furniture manufacturers, and oversees the production and donation of quilts, which go to hospitals and community organizations.
Quilts for Kids also uses discarded furniture fabrics collected through SWIFT, the Sample Waste Initiative for Furniture and Textiles, and by Houston-based recycling company Avangard Innovative.
