Baker Furniture lays off 117 workers at Hildebran, N.C., plant
Downsizing caused by slow business conditions

HILDEBRAN, N.C. — High-end source Baker Furniture has laid off 117 employees at its plant here, the News Herald in Morganton, N.C., reported this week.
A company official said the move was in reaction to business conditions. Baker had closed two plants in Mocksville, N.C., last year and shifted production to Hildebran.
