HIGH POINT — Three finalists will vie for the first-ever Sage Award from the American Home Furnishings Alliance and Cargill BiOH Polyols.
The finalists, selected from a field of 15 entrants, are case goods producer Cisco Bros., upholstery and case goods producer Hickory Chair and textile maker Valley Forge.
According to Andy Counts, CEO of the AHFA, the award program was launched to recognize environmental accomplishments in the home furnishings and bedding industries.
“A sage is someone who is widely respected for wisdom, experience and judgment,” Counts said. “This award was created by AFHA and Cargill BiOH Polyols to seek out, discover and recognize industry innovators from whom all of us can learn.”
One of the goals of the Sage award is industry education, “and we think there is a great deal to learn from each of the entrants, regardless of whether they were selected as one of the finalists,” said Yusuf Wazirzada, business unit leader for Cargill's biobased polyols.
Other participants in the competition included Bernhardt, C.R. Laine, Environment Furniture, Homestead House, Lack's Valley, Lee Inds., Natura World, Palecek, Rooms To Go and Vaughan-Bassett.
The winner will be announced during AHFA's Sustainability Summit, set for Nov. 13-14 at the Proximity Hotel in Greensboro, N.C.
