Furniture store C.S. Wo adds organic mattress line

OrganicPedic by OMI uses certified components

HONOLULU — Top 100 chain C.S. Wo has introduced a line of organic mattresses and pillows called OrganicPedic by OMI.

The OMI sleep sets, which retail for $1,995 to $3,795 in queen, are hand-made at the company's Yuma City, Calif., factory and use a variety of certified organic components.

"C.S. Wo is the pinnacle of fine home furnishings in Hawaii," said OMI President Walt Bader. "The rigorous training their design consultants undergo before introducing a new product helps the customer understand what they are buying and why."

Certified organic cotton and organic Eco-Wool, which is sheared from free-grazed sheep, is used exclusively in cushioning and quilting layers, Bader said. In addition, lumber used in slats and box springs has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

Employees at the factory are not allowed to smoke, wear any type of fragrance, or use fabric softener on their clothes, he added.

OMI's organic bedding also is sold at Top 100 store Walter E. Smithe in the Chicago market and will debut next month at ABC Carpet & Home in New York.
