HIGH POINT — Mexico-based upholstery fabric manufacturer Texel has named industry veteran Tom Muzekari as sales agent.
He will represent Texel on an exclusive basis globally.
“Tom will work with our design team on execution of product from mill to market,” said Texel owner Elkin McCallum.
McCallum, the former owner of Joan Fabrics and its Mastercraft division, acquired Texel, a 25-year-old mill based in Tlaxcala, in 2007 after Joan Fabrics filed for bankruptcy.
Muzekari, former vice president of sales and marketing for Quaker Fabric for 12 years, also worked at Collins & Aikman and Milliken. He replaces Glabman-Hines as sales representative for Texel.
In its second outing at High Point's Showtime fabric show, set for Dec. 7-10, Texel will offer a broad line of residential and performance fabrics for the outdoor, contract and hospitality markets. These include Dralon acrylics, cotton blends in chenilles and flat textures, and its Vibrant line of eco-performance olefins.
Texel will show in the Market Square Textile Tower, 12th floor.
