Zenith partners with IDS, CV, Hecny for logistics

By Larry Thomas -- Furniture Today, November 16, 2008

Supply chain provider Zenith Global Logistics has formed partnerships with Hong Kong-based IDS Group and two U.S.-based freight forwarders that will expand its warehousing, logistics and transportation services in Asia.

The partnerships will provide Zenith's home furnishings customers with complete supply chain management, from their factories in Asia to delivery to the consumer's home, said Steve Wolfe, Zenith's vice president of business development.

He said the new ventures also give customers access to sophisticated logistics technology for real-time inventory tracking and shipment status.

Zenith has more than 4.5 million square feet of warehouse space at 11 U.S. locations. The IDS partnership adds access to the Chinese ports of Shanghai/Yangshan, Hong Kong, Tianjin, Ningbo, Dalian, Yantian, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Qingdao and Shekou.

In addition, it provides access to ports in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Cebu, Philippines; Surabaya, Indonesia; Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and Singapore.

IDS operates more than 90 distribution centers covering 10 million square feet.

Other new partnerships with freight forwarders CV International and the Hecny Group allow Zenith to further expand its offerings of global supply chain services.

“By joining forces with CVA and Hecny, we feel we're well-positioned to provide an even broader range of innovative and reliable services for manufacturers, importers and retailers,” said Wolfe.

Wolfe said Norfolk, Va.-based CV International provides a range of international services, including exporting and compliance with U.S. Customs and C-TPAT, the Customs-Trade Partnership against Terrorism.

The Hecny Group has a wide range of logistics offerings in the Pacific Rim, notably air freight management, he said.
